from Digital Systems & Solutions... "On
the Art and “Science” of Mechanical Impedance Matching as it Applies to
Unity-Coupled Dynamic Impedance Matched Dampers and How Art Frequently
Leads Science...
Dynamic Impedance Matching (DIM) is the term I use for the damping of
rotating discs usually made of polycarbonate or glass, with data that
are read by a laser pickup. I believe in the scientific method
and double-blind testing, and I think that anything we hear should, at
least in principle, be measurable. But having said that, there are some
aspects of sound the human ear-brain can discern in double-blind tests
that either we don’t know how or what we should measure, or that might
be below the resolution of present test equipment. In my
experience test instruments don’t connect emotionally with music or
art, at least not yet. The purpose of our products is to enhance
listeners’ ability to make the closest possible emotional connection to
music. Hence the Digital Systems & Solutions slogan:
Listen to Music Not Measurements..."
We will soon be selling these directly.
